With roughly 200 square feet of living space, every inch counts!
Every modification we have done has paid off tenfold already!! I have 3 mods that are my favorite with the first being the LAUNDRY HOLE! In a rig this small, every inch is being used and a bulky laundry basket sitting out gets to be a bit frustrating. Before having the Imagine, we had a smaller 24ft Coleman Lantern 202RD. We used this rig on a monthly basis for extended weekend trips and quickly realized laundry was the enemy! We devised a plan to solve this frustration in the Imagine!!
The biggest mod we did was pull out the table/dinette to make room for a Desk/Dining Table. With my husband working remotely, he needed a comfortable place to work with enough space for a real office chair. Because we did not want to lose any functionality of this space and we chose to not get a larger rig early on, we decided that this modification was a necessity. After removing the dinette and rerouting the electrical, we built a custom table and matching bench. These two pieces of furniture solved our issues of needing a desk, dining table, and a storage area for my camera gear but also brought a piece of “home” and pride into our rig! We both find enjoyment in making items and feel a sense of achievement in using these items on a daily basis. On travel days, we simply flip every over and stack the chair!
A simpler modification that may seem trivial was the addition of these “bedside tables”. I am telling you, the smallest changes can make the most significant improvements! I couldn’t use the real bedside table due to it blocking my closet door and drawer, so I found these hanging racks to use instead. Now I have a secure and out of the way location to store my Kindle, reading glasses, and phone.
There are numerous other areas of this rig that I still have yet to find a solution to the “mess” but these three have already made a huge difference in the organization and functionality of this rig. It’s not such a crazy idea living small when it looks and feels this great!
Great ideas, keep them coming. I just may implement some of them in our camper 🙂
