It is hard to believe that it has already been more than 6 weeks since I moved into the Imagine with my husband and pup, but the transition to living in such a small space has been surprisingly easy! To be honest, I love my new home more than any other house I have lived in.
My home is a Grand Design Imagine 2600RB Travel Trailer!
This Imagine model is a whopping 29′ feet 8″ long and that is all the space we need!
Our most favorite part of the ENTIRE rig is the bathroom. This model features a rear full bath with a layout that makes it the second most comfortable and functional bathroom we have seen in an RV. The Airstream 33ft classic owns the title of “Best RV bathroom” in my book! With more than enough counter space, a large double door medicine cabinet, and a shower with hide-away door, even someone 6 feet tall can utilize this bathroom with ease. All it needed was a few command hooks for towels and some small baskets in the cabinets to help keep everything organize.
The doors is also something we found to be very important in a rig! The use of sliding doors in the Imagine keeps the space open and free of obstacles. There is nothing more frustrating than being hit by the door as someone comes out of the bathroom when living in such a small space!
The “Living room” of this rig is also a large selling point for us! The sitting area is on the slide wall and allows for a full size reclining 2seat sofa that sits directly across from the entertainment center! Seems like common sense but you would be surprised how many RVs have the TV at a 90 degree angle from the couch! Although we are not huge fans of the recliners themselves due to the middle armrest, it is functional for now. The fabric of the sofa was another selling point due to Watson! Anyone with pets who think they own the couch can relate. With as much mud as Watson tracks in, I am happy to have an easy clean surface.
The dining table doubles as the office and takes up the remaining space on the slide wall. As much as I would like this space to be kept clear of computers when they are not in use, I am losing that battle! You don’t want to see what it looks like on a daily basis so here is the best it gets.
The kitchen is small but functional! Now, keep in mind that I don’t enjoy cooking or cook very often. I keep my meals simple with few ingredients that do not require a lot of prep work. My daily cooking will require only one skillet, a pot, Instapot, or the oven. Never all at once, and usually only one of the four listed for a single meal. One pot meals are my jam and have become something of a necessity for life in a small space. To be honest, if all this kitchen had was a logical and out of the way place to put a full size trashcan, I would call it functional!
The front of the Imagine houses the bedroom. Most RVs have the same layouts for rigs this size that include some type of closet storage, overhead storage, and either a short queen or a residential queen size bed. The Imagine allows for comfortable space to walk around the bed which was a must for us and it has the standard residential queen size mattress! The size of the mattress is important because I did not want to have to special order sheets every time we needed a new set. Although we are not fans of the closed in space at the head of the bed, this was pretty much our only compromise on this rig and only option with nearly every rig having the same lay out.
The Imagine offers everything we wanted in our new home and at under 30 feet long, we are able to tow it with ToVi! Towing with a 1500 Chevy Silverado is almost an unheard of concept in the RV community for reasons I don’t understand. We wanted our tow vehicle to be both safe and capable at this tow capacity but also practical because I would still be driving in the city for work. With the 6.2L tow package, this truck meets all of our requirements and the upgraded ProPride hitch makes the towing process easy!
