With the stress of the unknown and being a first time candidate for a travel nursing position, to say I am a little overwhelmed is an understatement. Taking this process one day at a time is the only thing I can do to keep myself sane.
Company P recruiter contacted me yesterday and started the discussion of job positions available in my desired state and specialty, but there was a HUGE difference in this process compared to Company A!
Company P provided every detail available about the position through email including the “pay package”. I was able to open an email, compare the positions and have time to breakdown the “pay package” in a way that makes sense to me. I was not rushed and was told to call or text my recruiter back with questions or with “Submit” meaning she would submit me for that position. Having everything in writing and allowing me to take my time to review them was a welcomed change. With Company A, everything was given to me in quick succession verbally and I was immediately asked “Submit?”
With being exposed to both types of Recruiters, I am beginning to understand the impact they can make on the entire experience. This is a learning curve for me and at each step of the way I am sure to make some rookie mistakes. Requiring recruiters to have everything in writing seems like a no brainer and is now a must for me with every potential job. Although the information given is not a binding contract, it is the information you used to decide whether or not a job was right for you and this process should not be rushed. Consider also, that at any time if the contract you receive does not match this information, you will have a leg to stand on to make sure corrections are made.
(Still waiting on my first interview….Oh, and my Texas Compact License came through yesterday!)
