We heard so many stories about rodents getting into RVs at night and then making a home for themselves. To help avoid our own rodent nightmare, we decided to place solar powered lights under the rig at night to keep those dark loving creatures out. We place 1 lamp at each corner of our rig, each pointing to a different area under the RV.
The lights we chose are VicTsing Solar Powered Waterproof lamps and I have a mixed review about them.
Lets start with the Pros:
- They work great! These lamps offer 2 brightness options and work for days without recharging. (we get full sun most days)
- Automatic on/off. They turn on at night and off during the day making them truly hands free. Our current RV park site location provides solar to all 4 lights for many hours throughout the day, meaning that we don’t have to move them for them to charge. At our previous RV site, we would have to move the lamps into the sun every few days to recharge. (the low brightness level is all we need and one charge lasts us multiple days)
Small Con to mention:
- The entire product is plastic. The connection between the lamp, solar panel, and post is ALL plastic. My husband is heavy handed, if something isn’t working easily- the answer is use more force. Well, with dense ground and placing a lot of force on a plastic connection, it was easy to break when trying to get it in the ground. There is no great place to hold the Lamp when trying to install and naturally you will want to grab it at its weakest point. The product itself still works but we had to do a repair to reconnect the lamp to the rest of the unit using Zip-Ties. Since breaking the first one, we have not broken another. Just don’t put your hand on the connection site and apply force when installing and you are good to go!
Overall, we are happy with this product! Its low maintenance and long lasting battery has given us the peace of mind that our underbelly is lit and free of unwelcome guests.
