After living full time in our Grand Design Imagine 2600RB for 5 months, the pass through storage area was in desperate need of some organizing before our next adventure! In just 1.5 weeks, we will be heading to my next job assignment which will last 3 months and take us through the change of seasons.
All of this plus a little more needed to be in the storage area, organized, and easy to access!
Like all storage areas in this rig, the spaces are large but lack shelves or dividers to keep things organized and separated. After we pulled out the dinette in the rig, we decided to repurpose and reuse one of the bench frames as a “shelf” in the Pass Through storage area.
This was a simple and cheap modification/addition to the area that increased our storage capacity significantly!
Along the tops we added a utility rail system. Using specially designed hangers and holders, we were able to eliminate one storage box by hanging all of our extension cords, level, power cable, drill, and other misc. items.
We also purchased these 3 perfectly sized storage bins with lids. These particular boxes were purchased at Walmart but we found some similar size ones on Amazon as well! (The Amazon boxes are clear and would allow you to see what is in them.) In these 3 stacked boxes, we placed small misc items that were needed but not on a regular basis or items that were in a larger box that needed to be downsized.
We carry a small carry on suitcase because Chris is occasionally required to fly back to Corporate for work. In the suitcase, we currently store all of our winter coats and a few winter items.
With this space now organized and the suitcase back onboard, I still have plenty of room to add my bike trainer and fan when the time comes to hit the road! This next adventure is going to be the biggest one yet and a well organized pass through storage area makes the journey a little easier!
