As we say goodbye to another week here in Saint George, Utah, we are still mesmerized by the endless beauty of this area. This week we decided to lay low and stay close to the rig, but that didn’t mean we wouldn’t be blown away once again by this breathtaking landscape! Snow Canyon State Park offered a few “Dog Friendly” hikes, so with Watson leading the way, we chose a 5 mile hike that promised beautiful views with an epic payoff.
Scouts Cave Trail was located in another unbelievably beautiful dried river bed that is surrounded by lava flow fields. The lava rocks are a sight to see by themselves. Their stark black color against the red rock cliffs in the background fills your mind with wonder and fascination of a time when this land flowed with molten lava.
As you descend into the dried river bed, the landscape of a once wet land takes shape. The lush desert foliage grows tall and wild flowers bloom out of the now thick soft sand.
The river bed twists and turns, leading you to a vertical cliff where secrets hide within!
You can see the cave from the top of the stair case, but the magnitude of the cave is far beyond comprehension.
Once you are inside this massive cave, you understand the fact that you will never understand how this came to be!
This perfect cave offered the most spectacular views! And as easy as that, we are once again dumbfounded by the possibility that one small region of this state can hide so many secret treasures for us to find!
3 weeks complete and 10 Weeks to go on Contract #2 and we haven’t even touched the surface of what this area has to offer!
Keep following along, next week promises to offer another great adventure while travel nursing in Saint George, Utah!
