After experiencing our first major water leak in the Imagine, we had to take steps to help prevent future water leaks.
To understand where we are now, you need to know where this all started! During our first long haul from Georgia to Texas back in May, we had the bathroom drawer break in our Imagine 2600RB. The staples that where holding the drawer supports in place failed and allowed the drawer to fall and rest on the water line below. Fast forward a few months later and we are in Sugar Land, Texas at an RV park with very irregular water pressures. When we first connected to the water, the pressures were around 40psi and a regulator was not needed. Water pressures would change though from 60psi to 20psi and back again without reason or warning and without our knowledge.
Once we noticed the leak (read more about it HERE), we immediately disconnected from the water but not before checking the water pressure in the line pressure. The water pressure was upwards of 60psi on a water line that had a history of blunt force trauma. We are not sure if it was the pressure on an already defective connection, or possible damage to the plastic connector from the drawer falling but the drastic change in water pressure was something we were not expecting. We did our repairs to the leaking water line (read more about it HERE), and then placed our cheap, Camco 40-50psi pressure regulator from Walmart onto the line. Our water pressure was, from then on, horrible! We could not get over 30psi. There was not even enough pressure in the line to get a stream of water from the shower head.
With the water damage that occurred and the need to ensure we have accurate readings and the ability to set a max psi for adequate pressure for daily living, we decided to invest in the Valterra RV Water Regulator and Pressure Guage.
This All-In-One device allows us to adjust our max psi, and have a live reading of the actual pressure if it drops below our max setting. Having this tool as part of our RV essentials ensures us that we can better monitor the water pressure that is coming into the Imagine and protect against future water leaks caused by unexpected high water pressures!
