Finding a sense of Community while RV Living Full Time
Wanting to feel like you a part of a community is human nature but with life on the road, it can be extremely difficult. Add in my shy, introvert nature and I find myself working even harder to feel like I belong.
As a Travel Nurse, finding ways to participate in local events is my way of making my host city apart of my community.
This week was filled with community events and started out with the Hospital Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Now, I know this seems a bit silly but my unit and coworkers rallied around my Endoscopy Department entry and we shared many laughs together over something so silly.
This fun weekend project has identified me as “The Travel Nurse in Endo who made the Pooping Pumpkin”. No joke, I’ve been stopped in the hall multiple times this past week with someone asking me if I am “that travel nurse”.
“Yes, I am that travel nurse!”
The best part, all the laughs didn’t go unnoticed! My little Pooping Pumpkin Won!
But that’s not all! The Medical Center then hosted a Trunk or Treat Fall Festival that evening where I was encouraged to enter My Pooping Pumpkin for their contest! He won the Funniest category and we walked away with some pretty awesome prizes!
Come Saturday, we hopped back on our bicycles and joined a few of my coworkers for a day on the road at The Tour of Saint George. Sharing in activities with friends builds that sense of community and cycling is an awesome way to connect.
This bike ride was beautiful and difficult, but worth every grueling mile.
The half-way point in this Contract is just around the corner and I can’t believe how fast this is going by. 8 weeks left and more adventures await!
