With this being our last weekend here in southern Utah, we set out to explore The Valley of Fire State Park one last time!
This land came by its name honestly! The brilliance of the red sand stone and the jagged rock cliffs seemingly rise out of the desert floor in a fiery dance as dawn breached the horizon.
The colors of this land changed as fast as time passes. The Fire Wave was the most spectacular formation we saw today. From only one angle, you could see how it got its name. The colors gave the illusion of motion, as if a wave on the verge of cresting.
From the illusion of water to witnessing the power water holds, around every corner there was something new. The slot canyon was a portal that led to the White Domes.
The stark white contrast was a surprising change when compared to the surrounding land.
And the difference couldn’t of been more pronounced than when the two lands collided. It was here that we found the native Desert Bighorn Sheep.
On full display, they gave life to this seemingly desolate land.
Two males butted heads a couple times as I watched them graze. It was when the tribe crossed the road, though, that I capture this memorable moment. My favorite image of the day is a reminder that life happens in the matter of seconds, cherish it!
I only have 1 week left in Contract #2 and it is definitely a bitter sweet moment. I am so excited to have completed another contract and get to go home and visit family but also a little heart broken that my days exploring southern Utah are over for now. This contract definitely defined all the perks of Travel Nursing and has solidified that I made the right choice for me in changing careers.
Don’t think this is the end! I have Wednesday off to squeeze in one more hike to say goodbye to our beautiful host city, so keep following along! This chapter may be getting close to the end, but it is not over yet!!
