As the search for my next contract begins, there are many things I have to keep in mind. Some of these things are an every contract consideration but some are necessary for this coming spring and this year specifically.
For this particular contract, we had to consider the fact that we have to be in Texas, with the rig, for our yearly RV and Vehicle April inspection and registration requirements. We considered either asking for an extension or getting the inspection done prior to our departure, but I’m not sure if either of these are actually an option. My third option, I can find a contract in Texas for this spring, which seems more logical.
This year I also have to complete 20 approved hours of Texas BON CE requirements. The best way to get multiple hours at one time is to attend the 1-day CE class.
These two considerations will play a huge role in which contract I decide to apply for and accept next.
Some other considerations I have to make with every contract I apply for is location, local cost of living, pay packages, and if there are RV parks located close to the contracting hospital. How long will it take to get on location VS my required start date is another part of the decision process. With all of this, Travel Nursing is still worth it!
Wish me luck and fingers crossed as I begin the process of finding Contract #3.
