After deciding not to apply for the Washington contract, my recruiter sent over a potential contract in a location that wasn’t even on my radar before that point.
I reviewed the pay package breakdown from my recruiter, then researched available RV parks and cost of living in the area. On paper, this location is a perfect example of a positive cost vs. income contract for a “non-destination” location.
After deciding to send my profile for consideration for the position, I received a call from the department Manager 2 days later. The position was offered to me and I accepted!
I am heading to Augusta, GA
I am super excited to get back to work in a city that I am familiar with and have family close by. The pay package for this location is really good, but the best part is that I will not be required to do Call Hours or work weekends/holidays! If you have been following along on my Travel Nurse Adventures, you will understand my excitement! Call is the worst part of working in a procedural department and having to do call as a traveler is incredibly stressful!
Besides the no call/no weekends/no holidays aspect of this location, another new concept for me will be that I have to provide my own scrubs. I immediately asked my recruiter about an allowance to cover some of the cost of having to buy scrubs for the first time in years! I can’t say enough about this agency and my recruiter! Although the allowance they are giving me for scrubs will not cover the full expense, every little bit helps offset the cost of travel nursing!
This contract happened quickly and seemingly fell into my lap when I was least expecting it! The facility requested I start asap, and I will be heading to Augusta next week. I am completing the required tests, lab work, drug screen…. as quickly as possible, while also prepping The Imagine for the long journey east!
The Prep-work for Contract #4 has just begun, so keep following along as Travel Nursing continues to take me to new places and endless adventures!
