The last few days before leaving are always hard. I tend to spend as much time as possible with my family while also completing the huge to-do list of getting the rig ready and the Contract On-Boarding requirements completed.
With this contract, the “On-Boarding” requirements were minimal and took only a few days to finish but getting the rig ready is a different story.
The barn has allowed us “unload” excessive baggage when we are home. Some of these items are non-essentials but some of them are essentials and having the barn allows us to keep everything close by but declutter the rig. One of the biggest chores is to unload things we will not need for this contract and repack all of the essential items back into the rig before we leave.
Because of the location and the time of year, we were able to unload all of our winter clothing along with all of our winter gear for the rig, like the extra propane tank and RV Skirt.
On the other hand, we will need to repack a few essential items like our vacuum and tool boxes!
Another aspect of our repacking process is deciding which hobby items to take, i.e our bikes, disc golf, hiking bags/boots…
And then, I also have to break down the rig itself and get it ready to roll. This is something I usually do the morning of our travel day but because we are leaving at an ungodly time tomorrow morning, I am doing as much as possible today. Shelves, pictures, cactus garden, countertop items and more has to be put away and secured for the long journey east.
Travel Nursing is an amazing adventure and I am lucky to have another opportunity to work and live in a new city/state for 13 weeks! It is a constant journey and I can’t wait to see what Contract #4 has in store for me!
