During my adventures of Travel Nurse Contract #4, we noticed that we had horrible calcium build up in all of our faucets. The water at our last RV park was horrible and reeked havoc on our water system.
There were multiple attempts to de-clog the faucets but even with the screen filters clean, the water pressure was nonexistent. The source of the clog couldn’t be found and it was just time to upgrade the faucet.
The choice to replace the kitchen faucet was not only because of the trickle of water pressure, but the faucet was also way to big for the space in my tiny kitchen. The sink in my Imagine 2600RB is a good size and farm style but the depth of the sink is pretty shallow compared to residential sinks. The splash and splatter from the faucet due to the shallow sink was excessive and always made a huge mess. I wanted to solve two problems with one upgrade!
After measuring the faucet I had, I went on a little trip to Home Depot to start my search for a replacement. I had no idea faucets were so dang expensive but it is something that is used multiple times a day and I wanted it to be what I wanted!
After the initial sticker shock, I did find a faucet the had smaller measurements than what was currently in the rig, but it was also simple and sleek- the Moen Adler Faucet in brushed spot resistance stainless. Nothing fancy, just a faucet- just my style.
With all the pieces of the puzzle, the installation process could now begin.
After turning off water to the rig, it was time to clean out the organized chaos that is my under sink storage. Don’t judge me, I know where everything is and everything is essential.
Next, It was time to disconnect and remove old faucet. This can be a messy job because there is always water still in the lines that drains out. Towels, lots of towels to protect the laminate below.
Once the old faucet was removed, I was able to get a better look at the size difference between the two. The original faucet was huge next to the new one and I was super excited and nervous. Did I go too small or did I just win the jackpot of perfect size?
With Chris’ expertise and my ability to read instructions, the faucet install went off without a hitch. With our 2019 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB, the only additional hardware that was needed to make this install a success was a 3/8″ to 1/2″MIP Reducing Coupler. I was even able to use the base plate for the faucet and it fit beside my water faucet perfectly! (not that this was a must, the faucet could have been used without the base plate)
Now that my new faucet is in place, I know I hit the faucet jackpot!! The size of the faucet looks so natural in the space, does not cause any splash, and I once again have amazing water pressure!
With this RV Upgrade finally complete, I now wait for my RV metal skirting to be delivered so that the damage cause by the tire blowout in August can finally be repaired. There is hope that this should happen some time this week and I can not wait for my rig to be road ready again!
If all goes to plan and the skirt is delivered, I will be back on track for my 5th Travel Nurse contract! Stay tuned as I continue to live the RV Life and make plans for my next crazy amazing Travel Nurse Adventure!
