So, last week, we went on an epic hike through The Bisti Badlands. Although it was spectacular, there was something I was missing.
When first scoping out last weeks hike, there was one formation that pulled me in… The Bisti Wings!! But after hiking the 6.5 mile loop around the Badlands, I never did find what brought me there in the first place.
After a week of research and a lot of time reading hiking reviews and trail maps, I was ready to return to Bisti Badlands and try again!!

The Bisti Wings!!
Getting to the Wings was not straight forward.

This desert landscape makes navigating really difficult! What I was looking for was hidden in and amongst the Hoodoos, toadstools, and ridge lines that litter this land. As if being protected from the outside world, the Wings are a treasure for those who wonder off the beaten path.

On top of a ridge line, the Wings stand tall but the ridge itself crumbled beneath my feet. Instead of disturbing the fragile ground where the Wings stand, I was thankful for my drone!!

Capturing images from impossible angles, this view could only happen in mid-flight!
The Bisti Wings were well worth the return trip to the Badlands!! Although the Wings were the main attraction, I am still amazed by the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Next week, I will cross the midway point in this Contract! Be sure to keep following along, every Sunday, to see where this crazy amazing Travel Nurse adventure takes me next!
