Reno, Nevada!!
This contract was unexpected but I am so excited to mark another great location off my Travel Nurse bucket list.
With the city nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe only 22 miles away, and a city of 200,000+ residents, I am sure to find plenty to fill my 13 week “workation”.
This will be the farthest I have traveled from home to work as a Travel Nurse and is the first state that I will work in that requires a Temporary Non-Compact Nursing license.
And now that I have been awarded the contract, let the “onboarding” process begin.
First Step: apply for a Nevada Nursing License. My recruiter from Agency P sent me an email with the breakdown of what needs to be completed for a temporary license. It included creating a Nevada BON log-in, filling out an endorsement license application, send over diploma and transcript from college, have Nursys send over proof of license from another state, and request fingerprinting card. Now, the fingerprinting is done on paper unless I am in the state of NV (in-state fingerprinting is done digitally). I was given the option to have it done out-of-state on their provided forms that will be mailed to me or wait until I arrive for my contract start date. Fingerprinting does not have to be completed prior to them issuing a temporary license.
So, this is where I stand right now. All I have left in the first step of this “onboarding” is fingerprints. I did request the fingerprint card to be mailed to me, but depending on how long it takes to arrive, I may end up waiting until I get to Nevada.
The remaining portion on my onboarding won’t happen for a couple of weeks. All of the online modules, tests, and maybe even virtual EMR training will come next… I am not really sure what will be required prior to arrival.
I have 4 weeks before I will need to hit the road on my next grand adventure!!
Keep following along as a continue my onboarding process in preparation for my 6th Travel Nurse Adventure!
