First day on the floor!
After all of the modules and unanswered questions, I finally have some reassurance that I will survive this contract! Today was my first day on the floor and although it was harder than previous contracts, it was still Endoscopy and I know endoscopy.
The most difficult part of my day was the charting. I have never used EPIC before and the training on Tuesday was a joke. My lack of knowledge clearly showed with my inability to pick it up before the end of the day. Tomorrow, I am hoping to be able to build on what I learned today and get more comfortable with the charting. The flow of the unit is also a bit different and will take some getting use to.
The team seems great! And what a wonderful surprise to see that an old coworker from my home hospital in Georgia will be working with me for a few weeks before she moves on to her next contract. It is a small world to cross paths with someone after 2 years, thousands of miles from our starting point!
Tomorrow is finally Friday and the last day of week 1! I won’t toast to surviving my first week until it is official.
Keep following along as I finish out my first week here in Reno! Next week, my blog will return to normal with a new blog every Sunday featuring my amazing adventures and my favorite captures!
