Prior to our journey to Reno, we said goodbye to our beloved Chevy Silverado 1500. After 2 years of living full time in our Imagine, we decided to take the steps needed to prepare for our longterm rig! The first step, upgrade to a truck that can handle the load!
The Super Duty was not an easy find. When we started our search, the truck market was already devastated by Covid and finding exactly what we needed took time. I didn’t need the top-of-the-line model with all the upgrades, but, I also didn’t want to compromise on some of the luxuries that would make long travel days more comfortable. The truck we ended up with was a perfect fit! We got everything on our “must-have” list, even though some of the basics would have to be added after market.
The first upgrade- rubber floor mats!
I have always loved rubber floor mats in my vehicles, but it became essential when we started traveling for a living! The amount of dirt and mud we track into our truck is evident in the pics! I just cleaned them… Desert life is dirty!
We looked at both the Ford brand and Husky Liners floor mats and ultimately went with Husky. With more surface coverage, the texture of the rubber, the custom fit, and the price being lower- we took a chance and love the product! There is no doubt, these are the best rubber floor mats!
The second upgrade- Wheel Well Guards!
Some truck packages came with a spray on liner to protect the wheel wells… This Super Duty did not. With the number of dirt roads we drive and the constant sound of rocks being kicked up, it was time to put a layer of protection to prevent chipping paint. Because we loved our Husky Liner floor mats so much, we decided to go with the Husky Wheel Well Guards. Perfect fit, easy installation, great look!
Third upgrade- Mud Guards
Yep, Husky Mud Guards were the easy choice after our past experience with Husky products. Another super simple installation and perfect fit!
The Super Duty upgrades are done for now! This truck has been great and we are loving our choice despite the learning curve of driving a 22 ft vehicle in the city! U-turns are a no go, I back into every spot I park in or take up 2 spots front and back, I look for my exit point before pulling into a parking lot to prevent getting stuck… Life is different with a long-bed but my future rig will make it all worth it!
