The first week on location is insanely busy and this contract was no different!
First came Hospital Orientation- an 8 hour day full of protocols, modules, N95 fit tests, and EMR charting class. A quick tour around the hospital and a drive by at my new department marked the end of Day 1.
This contract, I will be working primarily in an Out-patient endoscopy center. I haven’t worked in an outpatient setting since St. George, Utah during contract 2!
Day 2 was department orientation- My first impressions of a new department have always given me a since of what I can expect during my time here. I have had some positive and some extremely negative first impressions in the past and Contract #7 has started out positive!
This department is insanely busy and after shadowing for about an hour, I was on my own.
The next 2 days, I was considered staff and ran my own assignment.
With my first week under my belt, I am exhausted but that didn’t stop us from ringing in a new contract with style!
We got back on the road for the Waco Wild West Bike ride!
And did I mention, the ride was sponsored by Skittles!
Never have I ever crossed the finish line at a biking event and been given a giant bag of assorted candies! It was like Halloween on steroids.
In other news: We needed an upgrade to our RV site… Although the original one was fine for The Imagine, once we get our new rig, the site was not going to work. After contacting the manager, we were given the Luxury site with a giant yard and huge spaces between our neighbors! We are living the high life now in our tiny rig!
In other other news: The Truck is back from the shop (again). Bad batteries were to blame for our most recent issues and the theory is the original electrical issues caused damage to the batteries causing the second electrical issue. OMG, fingers crossed that the Truck will behave now.
This contract has just begun and there are 25 weeks left to fill with fun and adventure! Keep following along to see where this crazy amazing travel nurse adventure takes me next.
