Happy Halloween!!
It was a busy week! Work is moving right along and my comfort with this department is growing slowly. Next week I will be doing my first call day and I will be back at the in-patient endoscopy center testing my memory from week 2s training… Fingers crossed I remember everything!
With halloween this week, the unit allowed us to dress up. I jumped at the chance to participate in another Halloween while on contract! 2 years ago in Saint George, Utah, I famously won “The Funniest Pumpkin” contest at the hospital and that day will go down in my travel nurse history book!
For this Halloween, I had to come up with a costume that I could work in, still be professional, and create in 1 day due to short notice.
Simple, cheesy, and totally effective! NASA Mission Control, I hope I made you proud. I, along with my fellow travel nurse Patti, were the only 2 brave souls that dressed up. I have to say, we represented the travel nurse community proudly by laughing at ourselves and not taking our job too seriously!
With the work week over, it was time for a little fun! First, Patti finally got her home on wheels!
1 year ago, we met on contract while in Augusta, GA and I remember all the talks about me and RV life and her desires to one day have a rig and join the RV Travel Nurse community… and today, that dream became her reality! It was so exciting being able to share that joy with her and celebrate her first day in the “club”.
This weekend was also Boo in the Zoo at the Tyler Caldwell Zoo! My parents and my nephews came up from Nacogdoches to spend the day trick-or-treating and taking in the beautiful animals!
With the new lens I picked up in Reno, I had a blast capturing it all!
Everything from the birds to the Giraffes….
it was so much fun being back behind my camera!
And I am so happy that I got to share this time with my family!
Being able to take a contract so close to home is amazing! I am able to work but also be present for family time. I am starting to think that a “hometown” contract once a year or once every 3rd contract may need to become a new requirement in my travel nurse life rule book!
Next week, I have a few ideas of adventures that would take us back on the trails and back behind my camera! Stay tuned every Sunday to see where this crazy, amazing travel nurse adventure takes me next!
