The offer came through!
So, how it works with this particular Travel Nurse agency… When I receive an offer, it is an official verbal offer to begin with. The recruiter sends me the verbal offer via email and that lists the official start and end date, as well as the pay package one more time. At this point, everything can change… even the pay package can change from the original quote! At this point, I also know whether my days off requests were granted. All special requests for days off are written into contracts so that there is no question on what to expect. The offer will also define my hourly work schedule- will I be working 8 hour shifts/5 days a week, 10 hrs/ 4 days a week, or 12 hrs/ 3 days a week, or any variations like nightshift vs dayshift! If all looks good, then I send back to my recruiter a verbal acceptance of the contract offer.
Once the verbal agreements go through, the written contract should be hitting my inbox within 24 hrs for me to legally sign.
At this time I also pursue financial reimbursements for ACLS, PALS, BLS, continuing education, State Nursing Licenses- anything that has not yet be reimbursed by an agency for this year, I can request that this current contract agency back-pay me for these expenses. Now, not every agency offers this and it is definitely an incentive to work with this agency. My recruiter excepted my reimbursement requests and I sent over my receipts (This is huge for me because to maintain a nursing license, I can pay up to 2K every 2 years to education, certifications, and license renewal fees for each state license I hold. Any amount that I don’t have to pay out of my pocket is a huge financial help).
I also called the RV park and confirmed my official arrival date and departure date. These dates ALWAYS shift from the requested start dates!! Hospitals only do onboarding of travel nurses a few times a month. I have yet to have my request start day not change! This contract, I will be starting 1 week later than expected!
As of right now, I am set to start signing my life away and to start knocking out my HUGE to-do list that I know is on its way! Keep following along to find out where this crazy amazing travel nurse adventure is taking me next!!
