Well, I am well on my way to being ready for my first day of Contract #8!
I had my interview with my onboarding specialist and it consisted on talking me through my checklist of things that needs to be done, the deadlines for each thing, and answers to a few questions I had. Because I had already started my ”to-do” list, my interview was more along the lines of what was still pending. Having my list updated on what was still pending was super helpful because, again, that email is long and extensive and sometimes things get lost in the mix of it all!
I was able to get my medical evaluation done Tuesday and those Dr. visits cover everything! Vision test, color blindness evaluation, a physical exam, drug screening, and needed vaccinations/boosters/PPD skin tests are all included. After getting done, all that was left were the numerous documents that needed signing from both the hospital and the travel nurse agency.
Documents from the hospital included signing agreements that include anything from HIPPA compliance forms to acknowledging dress code requirements! This hospital also had a 50 question test included in their agreement. Anything that you would expect to be given during orientation at a new job, we as travelers receive it prior to arriving so that our orientations can be abbreviated.
The documents for the agency include of my contract with the agency (different from my nursing contract with the hospital), all of the background check release forms for each state I have worked in in the last 2 years, I9 form, permanent tax home documents, and other tax documents for employment.
I have checked off all my ”to-do’s” for now, but I know more is to come. I should be receiving forms like W2, 401K options, direct deposit form, Benefits election forms, what Continuing Education reimbursement options I have, as well as my first day instructions! Time to just sit back and wait for round 3 of onboarding to begin.
I have a little over 3 weeks till I head to Missouri. I really need to find some motivation to start organizing the rig, purging my space, and getting ready for an epic Fall/Winter contract in a new City/State! Keep following along as I take you behind the scenes of Contract #8 from start to finish!
