I half expected to regret my decision.
Like everything in my life these last couple of years, I have jumped first and asked questions later. My decision to walk away from my nursing career was no different. At the time, I didn’t know what to expect after the initial shock wore off… I half expected to regret my decision. But, like every other decision I have made on a whim these past few years, I feel at peace. No regret… A LOT of ”what’s next”, but no regret!
Public service jobs, the jobs where you place the life of someone else before your own, those jobs have a way of becoming your identity. I felt obligated to work as a nurse because ”I am a Nurse”. Who am I without nursing? This is my new beginning!
With one more week here before we head out, I wanted to spend a day in Kansas City.
There is nothing better than a day at the zoo on a beautiful fall morning!
KC zoo is HUGE! Probably the biggest zoo I have ever been to. We walked 4 miles and mapped every trail and walkway available. The animals were lazy and quiet, but I was able to capture a few who weren’t snuggled in on this 50 degree morning.
The Merino Sheep were the cutest! Sheep at a zoo is like my local Lufkin, Texas zoo having ”the American Raccoon” as an exhibit… not your typical zoo attraction, but still very effective at grabbing my attention! If only they were a wee bit smaller, I would have smuggled one home!
But it was the birds who stole the show! My photography loving heart could have spent hours capturing their beauty.
And the frogs! I am usually not one to admire these creepy creatures, but with colors like these… how could you not!
I had the best weekend spending time with my Love and experiencing life in KC. We attempted to go to one of the famous KC BBQ joints, but with a line of over 20 people and 10 minutes of standing in the same spot… We decided to skip it.
Next week we will be packing up The ReImagine and preparing for our journey east! Our first stop will be only 3 hours away just West of Saint Louis, Mo. We will get to play 2 of the top rated disc golf courses in the country! Playing new courses has become our new favorite pastime.
Keep following along as I navigate my new beginnings and document all my adventures along the way!
So happy for you two, you have done ✅ your duty of service and I thank you for serving for such a long time!
Now enjoy the new beginnings experience.
