Over the last 7 days, we have crossed nearly 1,250 miles and 6 states!
From there, we found ourselves making the long journey to Salvisa, KY where we stayed a few nights at the Cummins Ferry Campground. This location was way more than I could have ever imagined! Nestled along the Kentucky River, in a gorge, this Campground is absolutely stunning!
Add in the fact that I got to share it with my most favorite brother and his family, I can not wait to go back!
These are the moments that are worth every mile!
After saying goodbye to Kentucky, we headed for Mount Airy, NC. The drive was absolutely stunning and took us through the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia where the fall colors were nearing peak season! To those who get to see this spectacular show every year, you may think my fascination to be odd, but I have never seen a ”True” fall… at least I can’t remember ever seeing one! The views and scenery was out of this world beautiful and I couldn’t have picked a better time to hit my mid-life crisis and start traveling east.
Once we made it to Mount Airy, I found out that our campground has a weirdly famous history(on top of being another beautiful location)!
The property was once owned by the famous Siamese twins, Chang and Eng Bunker. In 1839, the brothers bought the farmland and established their homes after years of touring as the ”Freak Show”. The land has been passed down from generation to generation and is still owned by direct descendants of the Twins to this day.
The history of this place is pretty cool and another fun stop on our adventures east!
After a week on the road, we finally made it to New Bern, NC!
With remnants of last weeks Mum Festival, New Bern is all decorated up for fall! It is a super cute city along the Neuse River that is full of history!
We will spend the next few days spending time with friends and exploring the city before we head to our next stop on our route!
Keep following along as I visit new places and live my new beginnings one day at a time!
