Initially, this trip was just for one week… but, I decided to add an extra week and take my small business on the road with me.
Our first stop was in Hutto, Texas at the beautiful Redbud Ranch RV Resort. I was able to give a live Tank Talk and provide a few cleanings to residents at the resort. Along with this, I am slowly learning how to do a little advertising for my small business and played around with some videos and photos to make a short commercial. This is all very new to me and it is definitely a learning curve, but I am enjoying the process and the challenge of owning a small business.
While not working as The RV Tank Medic, I spent my time exploring Hutto, Texas and the surrounding area!
Hutto is known for their Hippo’s and, of course, our favorite was the cupcake Hippo outside the local bakery!
With our big disc golf tournament coming up, we also kept to our practice schedule and found a local course that challenged us to the max. It was an absolutely beautiful course in the middle of Round Rock, Texas that followed along the creek with a spectacular tree canopy to keep you shaded.
Spring in Texas is a mix between torrential downpours and blazing sunshine and there is no better time to go waterfall hunting than in the rain!
Just a 30 minute drive from Hutto, we found a uniquely beautiful waterfall that has definitely changed over the years!
This was actually a ledge, an over hang and the water flowed below it…. But at some point, the ledge collapsed changing the whole dynamic of the falls. Although not a conventional waterfall, it was still breathtakingly beautiful.
Change has definitely made this falls even more appealing! And I can’t not mention the wildflowers!
This hike was a great find in the middle of North Austin suburbs!
After a week in Hutto, it was time to continue on to our next stop… Lockhart State Park!
Now, Lockhart is known as the BBQ capital of Texas… So of course we had to give it a try!
Chris definitely got his fill of BBQ for a while!
Lockhart, Texas is absolutely the perfect location for a quiet get-away while still being close to all the cities! We were able to check off the #1 rated disc golf course in Texas- The Flying Armadillo DGC.
Watson turned 7 years old while on the road and of course, we found a way to torture and spoil him at the same time.
Trips to the local pup store wearing his birthday hat are always a hit.
By Wednesday, my parents had joined us for the last few days of vacation. My bucket-list hike was to go to Mckinney Falls State Park! We were unable to get their before sunrise for waterfall pictures, but the hike was still beautiful and the wildflowers are always a hit!
Family pictures are always a must!
Before the end of the week, I had one last wishlist activity planned… Meet up with my high school friend and bridesmaid Lisa! Lisa and her daughter joined us for lunch at the Power Plant restaurant in Sequin,
and a little play time at the park!
It was the perfect day and the best way to end our spring trip!!
Now that we are back at home base, we are preparing for our big disc golf tournament of the summer. It won’t be long, though, before we head out on our next Texas State Park adventure!
Keep following along as I try to get back in the swing of this travel blog thing and documenting all my discoveries and adventures along the way!
That’s cute, I wondered how Hutto became the Hippos! Love it. Thanks for sharing.
