Taking your 4 legged friends with you is one of the greatest perks of RV travel, in fact, it was what got us initially interested in RVing in the first place… and now look at us, living the RV life full time taking our pup Watson on an adventure of a lifetime! But, it’s not always easy… There are some common concerns we RVers share when it comes to having pets in an RV.
Although I would love to take Watson absolutely everywhere with me, there are times when I just can’t and he has to stay in the RV alone. Sometimes its only an hour or so, but there have been days where he is alone for 6-8 hours in a single go. Because of the nature of RVs, the absolute biggest concern is, “what if the power goes out and the ACs turn off”. Without the AC, The ReImagine heats up quick and can become a literal oven inside. This concern is very real and extremely scary to imagine.
When we moved into the RV full time, I needed someway to lessen my anxiety! I needed a way to monitor the condition of the RV and my best buddy Watson and I found 2 products that I would recommend as a necessity for all RV owners with pets!

Control and monitor your RV using the app that talks with the Govee device! You can see real time temperatures and even set temp limits and receive notifications.
Now, there is that one question about “If your RV looses power, wouldn’t my WIFI router not work”… Yes, my router would loose power and my monitoring device will say “disconnected”. If I ever see disconnected, you better believe that I am fully aware that my rig has lost power and I am heading home immediately!
With the temperature monitoring under control, I also wanted a way to actually SEE my precious puppy love. I opted for the Blink Mini Smart Camera.
I mounted it at the back of my RV looking forward and I can keep eyes on Watson while I’m gone! Using the Blink app, I am sent notifications when motion is detected. I am always checking to see if he shows signs of distress due to heat like pacing and panting! Again, this product is WIFI driven and works off my RV internet… as long as my internet is up and running, I have eyes on my fur baby. Same rules apply, if my internet goes down, my app will tell me it lost connection and I know I have lost power to my RV!
These products aren’t perfect, I know, but they have lowered my anxiety tremendously while I am away from the RV. There are products that run off their own internet service and require monthly subscriptions, but these products have served us well these last 4+ years of RV life!
