After initially making changes to the Modular Home floor plan, we took a step back and had to take into consideration the “here and now”. We have always been very conscious about thinking and planning for the future and to make sure we are leaving room for growth and change, but we realized that the modifications we were making really did not fit our current lifestyle and what we plan to be our lifestyle for the next 7-10 years. With the compromises we are having to make due to not being able to build our dream home from the ground up, we need to make sure that what we do is still comfortable and practical for today and for the future!
Our initial idea was to make the second bedroom a “mudroom/laundry room” with and entrance to the side porch (we are having a wrap around covered porch custom built to extend off the existing front porch)… but after a lot of consideration, we decided to revert back to leaving it a room and using it as an office for Chris. He works from home and having a quiet space, out of the way, and with a door would be much more practical. Once we finally decided that this was what we wanted to do, our requests went back to the designers and another week of waiting for the updated floor plan passed by at snails pace.
Yesterday, we finally got the updated floor plan for evaluation and, unfortunately, there are still some things that we requested that they forgot to change…
Here is the original and the latest update:
We have sent them the list of additional changes and now we wait… again. This is a long slow process and a lot more difficult than I thought it would be! I hope that the additional changes I asked for are approved because with these changes, we will be ready for the next step… start building!! Once we hit the building stage, we should be only 4-6 months out from delivery and starting this next chapter in our life’s adventure.
What would you change about this floor plan to fit your lifestyle?
